Julie Hermann, a member of the U of L athletics staff for the past eight years, serves as senior associate athletic director and senior woman administrator.

Hermann's primary responsibilites are supervising the department's athletic teams with a special emphasis on Olympic Sports, Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, Student Development including Lifeskills, the Performance Team systems and the CardsCARE and CardsFIT community outreach programs, while providing oversight of the Academic unit and Development department.

Currently serving as chairperson of the Division I NCAA Women's Volleyball Committee as well as being a member of numerous conference committees, Hermann played a vital role as the Cardinals added three women's sports to achieve its goal of gender equity as well as a fourth women's sport with the recent addition of lacrosse. She has previously served on many community boards including Metro Park Sports Commission, Commission of the Status of Women and Women 4 Women and currently serves on the boards of The Frazier Rehab Institute and the YMCA.

Prior to coming to U of L, she spent one year as an assistant coach for USA Volleyball, helping the national team to a silver medal finish at the World University Games in 1997.

Before joining the National Team, Hermann served as the head women's volleyball coach at the University of Tennessee for six seasons. Under her watch, the Lady Vol volleyball squad improved more than 150 places in the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1993, Tennessee's first post-season appearance in a decade.

Prior to her time at Tennessee, Hermann spent one season at Northern Arizona where she was hired by current U of L AD Tom Jurich. Hermann earned the top post at NAU following two seasons as an assistant at the University of Georgia where she helped restore the Bulldogs program to national status. Georgia recorded a 70-16 mark in Hermann's two seasons and earned a spot in the Top 20.

Hermann opened her collegiate coaching career at Wyoming where she spent two years and helped the Cowgirls to the NCAA Tournament with a final eight finish.

An all-Big-Eight performer as a volleyball player at Nebraska from 1981-84, Hermann led the Huskers to four conference championships, four tournament championships, four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and a pair of top five finishes.
