Carla Williams, a four-year letterwinner for the Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team from 1986-89 as the former Carla Green, was named University of Georgia's associate athletics director for student services and senior woman administrator in July 2004.
In her current position, Williams serves as administrator over Georgia's women's basketball, women's gymnastics, men's and women's swimming and diving and equestrian programs. She also has supervisory responsibility for the academic counseling unit, compliance and the CHAMPS/Life Skills program.
Prior to returning to Athens, Williams was an associate and assistant athletics director at Vanderbilt from 2000-04, where she oversaw 11 men's and women's sports as well as the CHAMPS/Life Skills program.
Williams received her bachelor's degree in political science and master's in public administration from Georgia in 1989 and 1991, respectively. She was then an assistant coach on Andy Landers' staff from 1991-96, including teams which reached the 1995 and 1996 Final Fours and won the 1991 and 1996 SEC Championships. Following the Lady Bulldogs' NCAA runner-up campaign in 1996, Green moved into administration and served as UGA's assistant director of compliance from 1996-97.
Williams was a graduate assistant for athletic academic support and coordinator for student-athlete development and life skills at Florida State from 1997-2000 while completing her doctor of philosophy degree.
A native of LaGrange, Ga., Williams led LaGrange High to two Georgia Class AAAA state titles before enjoying a stellar collegiate career. A three-year starter for the Lady Bulldogs, she finished her career with 1,115 points, which was No. 10 among Georgia's career scoring leaders at that time and now ranks No. 20. Green also recorded 425 assists and 285 steals, tallies which both rank No. 7 on UGA's career leaders' ledger.
Williams and her husband, Brian, have three children: daughters, Carmen (9) and Camryn (5), and a son, Joshua, born in June 2005.
