Highlights from the 2011 National Convention:

  • Lisa Caputo, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications, at The Travelers Companies, Inc., sat down with NACWAA President-Elect Julie Hermann for a Q&A-style keynote address.
  • College students, interns and graduate students attended the inaugural Generation→Next Summit, an afternoon of educational programming, personal branding and interviewing/resume 101. Thanks to the collaboration and support of the NCAA, the summit was free to attend.
  • NCAA President Mark Emmert headlined the Tuesday morning general session, discussing the 2011 NCAA Presidential Retreat and key outcomes to drive change in NCAA Division I athletics. President Penelope Ward Kyle, Radford University, and Directors of Athletics Gene Smith, The Ohio State University, and Kevin White, Duke University, followed with their perspectives of the retreat and hot button issues in Division I athletics.
  • New in 2011, the Focus on Facilities track allowed participants to dive into the foundations of building athletic facilities. Related sessions included a Pittsburgh facilities tour, in-depth discussion on facility financing, engaging an architectural firm, and everything in-between from design to opening day.
  • Attendees gathered to celebrate and honor women in athletics at the Nike Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon and Jostens Administrator of the Year and Honor Award Dinner. Four inspiring NACWAA Lifetime Achievers and eight Administrator of the Year honorees shined while U.S. Soccer Women's National Team captain Christie Rampone graciously accepted the Honor Award on behalf of the 1999 FIFA World Cup Championship Team.
  • New friends and connections were made throughout the National Convention at the numerous social and networking events. Attendees rocked the CONSOL Energy Center Lexus Club at the Welcome Party and raised an amazing $55,000 for the NACWAA Foundation Fund at the Awesome Auction.
