The NCAA/NACWAA Leadership Enhancement Institute (LEI) is the premier "level two" leadership development program for women in intercollegiate athletics administration. Open to NACWAA members and graduates of the NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement (formerly NACWAA/HERS), LEI provides advanced educational opportunities, professional development and more in-depth training for women athletic administrators.

  • July 16-20 in Kansas City, MO (Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center)
     

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Identify and cultivate your own power! Each attendee will leave LEI with the realization of:

  • The power of KNOWLEDGE: Strengthen your foundation in hot-topic issues and the history of intercollegiate athletics.
  • The power of WHAT: Create a leadership action plan that identifies personal skills which will ensure continued professional growth.
  • The power of WHY: Arrive at key personal insights that will allow you to stop holding yourself back and start being more intentional about your development.
  • The power of WHO: Take industry leaders from names on a list into intentional, connected, two-way relationships that help your advancement.
  • The power of YOU: Understand and harness your potential from the inside out so you can design your future and achieve self-actualization. 


APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS
Those interested in attending the NCAA/NACWAA Leadership Enhancement Institute must complete an online application that includes a brief essay (500 words or less) describing how attendance at LEI will help advance your career and help you grow personally and professionally. Applications will be accepted until Friday, March 2, at midnight CST. All completed applications are then reviewed by members of the NACWAA Education & Professional Development Committee and staff. Selections are made based on ensuring diversity in age, administrative duties, division, ethnicity, and geographic location. All applicants will be notified regarding the status of their application no later than Monday, March 19, 2012. NOTE: only 20 participants are selected to attend LEI. A full list of LEI graduates is available. 

INSTITUTE ELIGIBILITY

  • Current NACWAA member
  • At least five years of intercollegiate athletics administration experience
  • Graduate of NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement (formerly NACWAA/HERS)
  • Currently working in intercollegiate athletics in an administrative role


TUITION & SCHOLARSHIPS
Tuition fees are $500 per participant. The tuition fee covers all registration fees, lodging and meal expenses. Two scholarship opportunities available for NCAA/NACWAA LEI are (multiple awardees for each scholarship):

  1. NCAA/NACWAA Leadership Enhancement Institute Tuition Fee Waiver: This scholarship is used solely for tuition for current NACWAA members who cannot otherwise afford to attend the NCAA/NACWAA Leadership Enhancement Institute.
  2. NCAA/NACWAA Leadership Enhancement Institute Division III Scholarship: This scholarship is used solely for tuition and travel, and is open to current NACWAA members working in Division III athletics to attend the NCAA/NACWAA LEI.
