Women's Leadership Symposium
Developed for women aspiring to or just beginning a career in intercollegiate athletics, this program aims to enrich participants’ skills, expand their professional network and promote the recruitment and retention of women working in intercollegiate athletics administration. This two-day program will ask participants to take an active role in exploring:
- Personal Branding
- Title IX
- Diversity Education
- Career Advancement/Mapping
Who is eligible to attend:
- Graduate Students/Assistants
- Athletics Interns
- Entry-level Athletics Staff Members (0-2 years of experience)
Registration for the 2014 event (May 19-21 in Charlotte, NC) will open in February.
Dr. Claire Van Ummersen Presidential Leadership Award
The CVU Leadership award is named for Dr. Claire Van Ummersen, Vice President of the American Council of Education’s (ACE) Center for Effective Leadership, and a passionate advocate for the leadership enhancement for women in athletics and higher education.
Sponsored by NACWAA and the NCAA and presented annually at the Women's Leadership Symposium, this award honors a university or college president/chancellor, vice president or provost, male or female, who has demonstrated leadership and promotion of women's opportunities in athletics administration or coaching. Nomination includes an essay of 500 words or less stating why the nominee is deserving of this award, citing specific examples of how he/she has promoted women’s opportunities in athletics or coaching.
