Initial List of Invalid Prep Schools Released
The NCAA News - June 09, 2006

The NCAA has begun its review of nontraditional high schools to ensure the academic legitimacy of the high schools used in the initial-eligibility process. High schools that are currently being reviewed were selected based on significant irregularities in the information reported to the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.

As of June 1, 15 high schools have been invalidated and are no longer approved to meet NCAA initial-eligibility requirements. These high schools either did not respond or did not provide complete data to NCAA inquiries for more information.

The initial list of 15 high schools is not conclusive and NCAA staff are still conducting comprehensive reviews and if necessary, onsite visits to several high schools.

In order to provide certification decisions for student-athletes enrolling at an institution in fall 2006, all decisions will be made about schools currently under review by July 1, 2006.

Over time, all high schools will be reviewed using the criteria established by the NCAA Working Group to Review Initial-Eligibility Trends.
