Member Profile: Amy Dean
Ohio University President Roderick McDavis has appointed Amy Dean as the interim director of athletics, effective June 16. She will serve in the position until a permanent director of athletics is named to replace Thomas Boeh, who announced on Friday, May 13, that he has accepted the position of athletic director at California State University, Fresno.
Dean is responsible for the business and personnel matters in the athletic department and serves as its senior women’s administrator. She also supervises the varsity soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, wrestling, baseball and softball programs, as well as the athletic training, equipment and facilities operations. She is the administrative chair for the Mid-American Conference sports of baseball and field hockey.
Dean began working at Ohio University in November 1999, when she was hired as assistant athletic director for business and personnel. In 2001, she was promoted to associate athletic director for business and administration. In 2004, she was elevated to senior associate athletic director for business and administration.
Prior to joining Ohio University, Dean worked for the U.S. Army as the installation sports director at Fort Bliss in Texas. In that role, she managed a comprehensive sports program for an installation of more than 17,000 soldiers and their families.
