Reciprocation Hosting Agreement between Eckerd College and Florida Tech
Two institutions have come together to develop and implement a plan in case a hurricane strikes their respective campuses. Eckerd College and Florida Tech have signed a reciprocation agreement out of a commitment of both institutions to accomplish two goals: first, to insure the safety of their student-athletics in the event of a hurricane, and second, to create the best opportunity to maintain continuity in their student-athletes' endeavors in the aftermath of dangerous storms that strike their campuses. A guiding priority in planning for these events was the obligation of each staff member to his or her personal safety and that of their loved ones. With an impending hurricane and once the decision is made to evacuate campus, student-athletes are responsible for following evacuation instructions as any other Eckerd College or Florida Tech student would. Their evacuation location and contact information will be in the possession of their respective coaches.
In essence, fields and courts will be made available to the guest institution exclusively at the discretion of the hosting institution. Student-athletes from the hosting institution will not be displaced or placed in any personal, athletic or academic hardship or inconvenience. In addition, guest students will be housed in local hotels and will be provided both academic and athletic programs at the hosting institution.
