Whether you aspire to be an athletic director or just get your foot in the door of an athletics department, NACWAA is here to help. To start, our Advancement Road Map offers a straightforward guide and access to the best leadership education, development and networking opportunities in intercollegiate athletics.

The NACWAA Advancement Initiative is designed to intentionally increase NACWAA member advancement and, particularly, the number of women in athletics leadership positions. Key pieces of this initiative:

Develop /// Leadership Programming

Educate /// Daily Research and Notification of Positions

  • Identify and track open AD jobs through the job search engine Indeed.com, NACWAA and NCAA career centers and search firm websites for open searches
  • Gather helpful articles, advice and statistics to send to candidates

Connect /// Maintain Job Link List

  • For entry and mid-level women looking to advance
  • Send bi-weekly emails with a list of mid/leadership level positions and relevant articles
  • Notify interested applicants of openings and provide names to hirers recruiting for specific positions

Empower /// Maintain Candidate List

  • For high-level women ready to advance into senior/deputy level and AD/commissioner positions (if your next step is into an athletic director of commissioner role, please click here to email us be added to this list)
  • Email list of candidates monthly with a list of open AD jobs and relevant articles
  • Coach and connect women in searches as needed
  • Send notes to all newly-hired athletic directors (male and female)

  • Send qualified and interested candidates for search pools
  • Communicate and connect with industry influencers
  • Engage these groups with NACWAA programs and initiatives
